Estes Park...The Last Day

Well...we are sad, it's our last day here in Estes.  Today looks to be a pretty laid back day.  We need to pack and finish up our souvenir shopping.  We decided to try touring the beautiful, historic Stanley hotel first.  Our little condo literally sits almost next to the Stanley.  We went into the main lobby to check on tours, only to find they were for children 10 and older.  We peeked in the ball room, and the main dining room, both beautiful!  We walked through the garden and drove by all the other service buildings on the way out.  I told Brock I had heard many stories that it was haunted, but didn't know many details about it...this totally sparked your interest...you are dying to know what the stories are!!
We went back to the condo to grab a little lunch and just hang out for a bit before we would attempt to run downtown.  While we were there, in between packing things up, I decided to sneak outside and play with the camera a little.  So many opportunities for beautiful pictures here!  While we were waiting to go, I looked up ghost stories about the Stanley on the computer.  Oh my!  Scary stuff!  You boys sat at the computer riveted and wide-eyed as we watched a special ghost hunters segment that had been on the Sci-Fi channel, taped at the Stanley.  It was so funny, the wind blew the blinds suddenly as we watch and you both just about came out of your chairs!  So fun.

After lunch we decided to go downtown and finish souvenir shopping.  We wanted to find a Christmas ornament for our tree.  We found a little Elk all wrapped up in lights holding a sign that says Estes Park.  Perfect!  It will remind us of our little pet Elk we found.  We stopped to pick up Estes Park hoddie sweatshirts for both Brock and Bryce...you both chose the blue one, so you will match :).
Kate and I found two beautiful cotton bibs in fun prints for her souvenir.  Lastly, we decided each of you should get a book, something that you could have forever, to remember Estes.  Brock chose a Ghost Stories of the Stanley Hotel book that is excellent!  Daddy and I can't put it down!  So creepy!  Bryce, you chose a darling little picture book that talks about the Colorado Railroad.

Heading back home, we decided we would make some spaghetti for dinner....everyone likes it, it fast and cheap!  It was so yummy!  And the best treat was we ALL sat at the table together for dinner!  That rarely gets to happen!

After dinner, we went for one last ice cream run.  We had ice cream three of the five days we were here.  This time we really splurged...all you boys got sprinkle cones...even Daddy!
After ice cream we headed back to the condo to pack the car and as we drove in ...our new pet, the Elk was there to greet us and say goodbye...he is soooo huge!!!
Tomorrow morning we will get up at 6 am and start our long treck home...we are all sad to leave this beautiful weather and the exclusive time we have gotten to spend together.  I love our little family so much and can't steal enough moments with you!!!  Hears to safe travel and a FANTASTIC Johnson vacation 2011.
Love you bunches little Johnson's, Mommy
